Livetrend: Dystopian Rave - Men Fall/Winter 23

Published
Mar 6, 2023

Dystopian Rave. The apocalyptic zeitgeist and the return of rave and grunge culture are fusing together within this design story that has manifested across the AW23 menswear shows. Designers paint a doomsday scenery, where a distorted and worn-out aesthetic meets bolder digital hues.

The combination suggests a virtual realm that can glow in the brightest nuances, while the real world is falling apart. The idea of the digital doomsday translates into stylistic layering of pieces and adding of protective elements which can even take exaggerated volumes for an extreme shielding effect.

Baggy fits, hoods and pockets are key style ingredients. And an anarchist notion explores goth prints, punk studs and even more subcultural references for a deeper urban feel. Here the style leaders include: Givenchy, Alyx, Juun J, 032C, Etudes and Louis Vuitton.
