Shirting Colour and Fabric Trends - Fall/Winter 2020-21 (ItaltexTrends)

Italtex: Shirting Colour and Fabric Trends AW2020/21

As for the rest of men’s wear, also in shirting the fashion trends for Autumn/Winter 2020-21 are all driven by sports style, which involves a rather deep change in terms of design, qualities and finishes.

Fancy yarns become a key element: mouline’, chenille, slubbed, neppy and weavy yarns allow for the creation of new effects.
The fanciest effects are used to draw or emphasize patterns, while sober effects like mouline’ are perfect both as decoration and ground. They can be used virtually for any kind of shirting fabric, from classic to bold stripes, chic sports checks, or in more refined city look interpretations, where they renew plain and fake plain fabrics.

Patterns include medium to large repeat window-pane checks, glenchecks and patchworks, also in openwork flannels, and enriched with neppy or mélange yarns.
Medium to small dimensions are preferred for a sober style, often enriched with fancy yarns or weave effects creating satin decorations. Glenchecks taken from the world of suits and jackets are enlivened with touches of bright colours.

Knitted shirts are still very popular, especially in classic micro patterns while, when we talk about small effects in woven qualities, they get slightly more evident than before.  Mouline’ yarns become key to create blurred surfaces and bark effects that make any pattern less sharp.

Jacquards are getting more popular, either small or in medium to wide repeat floral patterns in white, pale blue and traditional light colours, or on dark grounds.

Printing is still strong thanks to the limited costs it involves and for allowing quick production. We can give some suggestions on small and tie prints, but the theme is very wide.

The whole shirting trend is available at the Italtex Shirting Colour and Fabric Trends AW2020/21.
