Patternpeople : Spring 2010 inspirations - Ditsies, Ethnics & Paint

Published
Oct 16, 2009

Rebbekah Taylor, Roberto Cavalli, Christian Dior, Stella McCartney, Richard Chai

Ditsies are all over the Spring 10 collections, just as in the current retail market. Even unlikely candidates like Christian Dior used a teeny-scaled floral, creating a homey but sexy effect. The look is all about country girl grows up and moves to the city.

Givenchy, Karen Walker, Trussardi, PPQ, Paul Smith

We're seeing some new-but-familiar takes on prints inspired by Native American, African, Mexican and other cultures of the world. The prints above feel warm, whimsical, colorful and fun.

Nicole Farhi, United Bamboo, Nicole Fahri, DKNY, Balenciaga

Spring 10 sees a lot of painterly prints as in the past few seasons, mostly in New York. Balenciaga shows some interesting strokes in Paris and it will be interesting to see what else happens this week, though so far, Paris is sadly filled with solids.
