Eurovet doesn't rule out extension of Mode City and Interfilière's stay in Lyon

Will the Mode City and Interfilière trade shows establish their permanent home in Lyon? It was to be a relocation for a single edition only: the summer sessions of the Eurovet trade shows are in fact traditionally held in Paris, but a move was prompted by the logistical problems caused to exhibitors and visitors by the final of the Euro 2016 football championship, held at the Stade de France in St. Denis, Paris. However, after the decision was taken in October 2015, new developments have intervened, subverting some of the certainties and undermining the show organiser's assurance.

At the end of the session scheduled from 9th to 11th July at Lyon's Eurexpo venue, Eurovet is planning to directly ask the exhibitors of the swimwear and lingerie show, and its supply chain neighbours, whether they prefer returning to Paris in 2017, as initially planned, or whether they are tempted by another edition in Lyon.

"Of course, we need to see how the show will unfold, what the impact of the relocation will be, and what our exhibitors will think about it," said Taya de Reyniès, in charge of Eurovet's lingerie-swimwear division. But the debate is open, and this was not on the cards.

"Early last October, when we took this decision, chiefly due to the extra accommodation costs for the week-end of the Euro 2016 final, we did not envisage for a second that the question would be asked today..." explained Taya de Reyniès.

In subsequent months, Eurovet's management felt better about the decision to move to Lyon. "The situation in Paris in the last few months is weighing heavily on the matter... There were of course the November terrorist attacks, then the strikes and demonstrations... all of which have had an impact on international visitors and exhibitors..." added de Reyniès.
