Aldo founder steps down, appoints new CEO

Published
Mar 6, 2017

It’s a new day for Aldo Group Inc. as the founder’s eldest son David Bensadoun gears up to take over as chief executive officer, effective April 3.

"I'm enormously proud to pass the baton to David who will continue the family legacy through his leadership of the company," said company founder, Aldo Bensadoun. “To witness this transition is truly a dream come true for me. David’s passion for the business combined with his leadership abilities and unique vision give me every confidence in the future of our company.”

David joined the Montreal-based footwear and accessories giant in 1995 as a project manager and was most recently President of Aldo Group North America. Outgoing CEO Patrik Frisk will help ensure a smooth and supportive transition in the coming weeks.

In a statement, Aldo Bensadoun thanked Frisk for his contributions to the company, adding that he has been "instrumental in helping the Aldo Group reach new heights.”

Meanwhile, Aldo Bensadoun will be stepping down as Chairman, naming Jurgen Schreiber as his replacement. Schreiber is a retail veteran and has previously served as CEO and President of Shoppers Drug Mart, CEO of Health and Beauty Europe, and more. He has also been a member of Aldo’s Advisory Board for the past four years.

Other changes in management also include the appointment of Norman Jaskolka to Deputy Chairman of the Aldo Group Inc, reporting to both the CEO and the Chairman. Jaskolka has held leadership roles within the Aldo Group over the last 22 years, most recently as President, Aldo Group International.

"With today's announcement, we are proud to express our consistent values and goals as a company," said David Bensadoun, in a news statement. "Our family has committed our hearts to the work of providing the very best product to our loyal customers while creating an environment where our people are encouraged to reach their full potential. I am honoured to carry this torch into the future."
