Yolancris signs deal for China joint venture

Spanish bridal and occasionwear brand Yolancris has formed a joint venture with International Fashion Office Mostela, owned by businessman David Eixeres, to accelerate its growth in Asian markets.

International Fashion Office Mostela will manage the brand in Asia - Yolancris

“To reach a distribution agreement in China, it was crucial to work with a local partner who knows the market well,” said Yolanda Pérez, co-founder of the brand, at the Yolancris studio in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, in Barcelona. “We have already partnered with some department stores, and will continue to prioritise this strategy, however we don’t rule out opening a standalone store in the future,” she said, adding that the market is very strong, where consumers understand the value of couture and tradition plays an important role.

The joint venture will see the brand expand further in China, where it has three partners: Jasmoda, and expansion experts Import and Migo Business China. Yolancris has also several stores in New Zealand and South Korea. And there are plans to strengthen its presence in other parts of the world. “We are very strong in Brazil, and want to invest in our growth in Miami,” said Yolanda Pérez. In 2012, the label opened its first international flagship store in Sao Paulo in partnership with Casamarela Novias.

The brand sells bridal and eveningwear - Yolancris

Founded in 2005 by sisters Yolanda and Cristina Pérez, the Spanish brand launched its first bridal collection in 2008. It was a year of growth for the brand, with the assortment expanded to include not only bridal dresses but also occasionwear. In 2019, the business grew again with the launch of B by Yolancris. Worn by everyone from Lady Gaga, Shakira and Beyonce to the Kardashian family, the brand shows its collections in Paris and takes part in the Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, Europe’s leading bridalwear event.

But it has yet to get the stamp of approval from France’s Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, whose members include Chanel and Christian Dior.

“We have not been selected for the January fashion week, so we are considering whether we should host a show or not. It’s a high cost, but it works well in terms of advertising,” said Yolanda Pérez.

On 3 December, Yolancris will host an event at its showroom in Barcelona, where it will review its 15-year history and outline its plans in Asia.
