In this newly created position, Abbas will work on a number of projects to expand the Yeezy brand by overseeing the direction and the launch of special projects including with adidas, Gap, Stemwear and general merchandise. He will report directly to Ye.

Most recently, Abbas served as the design director for Nike ACG, since November 2020. Prior to that, he also held roles at Louis Vuitton as senior menswear designer for 10 years, at Gucci as a designer for two years, and Uniqlo, where he worked as head menswear designer for a year.

“I’m energized to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward. At Yeezy and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world,” Abbas said in a statement.

Last month, Yeezy Gap unveiled a highly anticipated collaboration with fashion powerhouse Balenciaga. Gap struck a 10-year deal with Kanye West to create the Yeezy Gap line in June 2020.
