Versace adds a high-end fragrance line to its scent portfolio

Versace is tapping into the power of ‘haute parfumerie,' with the launch of a new high-end fragrance line.

The Italian luxury fashion house boasts an extensive perfume portfolio for both men and women. However, it is stepping things up a notch with the launch of ‘Atelier Versace Fragrance,' a line of six unisex scents that mirror the company's approach to couture, reports WWD.

The scents are dubbed 'Jasmin au Soleil,' 'Éclat de Rose,' 'Santal Boisé,' 'Cédrat de Diamante,' 'Figue Blanche' and 'Vanille Rouge.' Each one focuses on a central ingredient, with the resulting fragrances spanning fruity, floral and woody scents. They come presented in sleek glass bottles with gold caps, and will reportedly retail for €345 each.

"This is a new milestone for Versace that stems from the idea that every woman and man is different and that, in the same way that they like to get their dress made-to-measure, that's even more true when it comes to fragrances," the house's Chief Creative Officer Donatella Versace told WWD.

Versace is not the only luxury label to step into the realm of exclusively high-end scents recently -- in August, the fashion house Celine announced the launch of an ‘haute parfumerie' fragrance collection developed under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane, comprising 11 masculine-feminine perfumes for day and night.

Genderless perfume in general is enjoying a fashion moment: Thom Browne unveiled a debut unisex series of six fragrances this month, while the premium bath and bodycare label Molten Brown rolled out a unisex fragrance line in September.
