On November 27, Valentino showcased its first co-ed Pre-Fall 2019 collection at Warehouse Terrada in Tennozu Isle, Tokyo, on the occasion of the launch of a special Valentino concept store in its space at Ginza Six.

The Valentino Pre-Fall 2019 collection debuted on Tuesday with a joint menswear and womenswear runway show. The collection was inspired by Japan and the concept of “Wabi Sabi”. Playing on contrasts such as symmetry and asymmetry, the collection mixed couture elements with sporty prints and logos. Kaia Gerber closed the show in a ruffled dress with crimson petals and guests included the K-Pop band Perfume.

On the same day, Valentino launched a concept installation in its flagship at the Ginza Six shopping complex. The brand’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has taken over the flagship store to create a world called “ValentinoTKY” in collaboration with Sarah Andelman. The installation will run until December 9.

The space features art, music, and a capsule collection by Piccioli featuring five 'kawaii' (cute) characters in the form of a tiger, dragon, snake, panther, and butterfly inspired by animal designs from the brand’s archives. A number of brands have been invited to reinterpret Valentino’s imagery for the concept and the aim is to create a space that honours the brand’s history and fosters innovation for the future.

In-store, Doublet has collaborated with the brand for a street culture-inspired collection of T-shirts and hoodies and tattoo imagery, with the Valentino symbol reimagined in embroidery. Undercover has also collaborated with Valentino to create a Renaissance painting-inspired line of pouches.
