Each year, the UK Lingerie Awards ceremony brings together the British underwear industry in order to recognize the year’s best brands. The twenty awards handed out on December 4 primarily went to British brands, although not exclusively.

Chantelle fall-winter 14/15.

Three awards underscoring the British focus of the shows were handed out first: the UK’s favorite British designer was given to the brand Ultimo, the UK’s favorite lingerie retailer went to Debenhams and finally the UK’s favorite lingerie brand went to Gossard.

A panel of industry professionals then handed out the remaining prizes. The lingerie brand of the year went to French brand Chantelle. It was the only French brand to figure among the finalists, who were naturally primarily British.

Austrian brand Wolford in turn received two awards: hosiery and shapewear brand of the year. English brand Belle et Bonbon was also recognized twice: independent retailer and boudoir brand of the year. Karolina Lazkowska, meanwhile, triumphed in the new designer category.

Freya was chosen as sports bra brand of the year, Shell Bell Couture was recognized for lounge and nightwear, Melissa Odabash for swimwear, Lorna Drew for maternity, Harlow and Fox for fuller busts, and Vanilla Blush was named post-surgery brand of the year. Curvy Kate was distinguished for 2014’s best marketing campaign.

On the retail side, Debenhams was crowned the king of department stores, Simply Beach as the best online retailer, F&F as best multiple retailer, and London-based multibrand Coco de Mer as the best independent retailer.

Another retailer, Ann Summers, was also recognized, or rather its CEO Jacqueline Gold was, accepting a lifetime achievement award.
