Tommy Hilfiger to open first kids' UK outlet at LDO

Published

London Designer Outlet in Wembley Park has signed up another major name with Tommy Hilfiger set to open its first kids' outlet in the UK at the mall. The 1,387 sq ft unit will offer a range of clothing, footwear and accessories for boys and girls from nine months to 16 years at up to 70% off RRP.

London Designer Outlet

LDO said this new signing is the latest in a string of firsts for it with the destination also being home to Britain’s first Champion outlet, standalone Converse store and London’s first H&M and Lee-Wrangler outlets.

The arrival of Tommy Hilfiger will also boost the overall kidswear line-up at the centre with Nike, Champion, Gap, Adidas, Puma and Guess also retailing the category there.

Hilfiger is a big international name and will be an extra attraction for a mall that sees a growing number of tourist visitors. Across the 2019 calendar year, tax-free transactions at the centre increased by 10%, accounting for 7% of all retail sales there. But given that the tax-free figure doesn’t take into account sales to visitors from the EU (who can’t claim their sales tax back), it all means that LDO is a key stop on the London tourist trail, despite its distance from the city centre.

LDO attracts seven million visitors a year, almost twice as many people as go to Wembley Stadium and The SSE Arena. It’s currently home to Europe’s top Guess outlet store, one of Nike’s top three outlet stores in Europe, and the UK’s best-performing Gap Outlet.

Christine Grace, Leasing Director at centre manager Realm, said: “We’re delighted to have signed Tommy Hilfiger, which will be a really great addition to the fashion line-up at the centre. It’s tremendous to see that our consistent trading track record and reputation for leading the field has helped us to secure another first at the centre”.
