Carnaby has added another fashion brand to its ever-growing roster of retailers. The Shaftesbury-owned London attraction welcomes menswear brand Toast with its first ever standalone store on Newburgh Street.

The 1,146 sq ft space over two floors will feature Toast’s “functional and pared-back designs with relaxed styles”. Core workwear influences “have been reinvented through relaxed silhouettes, washed textural fabrics and rich, heathery colours”, said Toast.

Apart from the menswear, a small, curated selection of homewares and womenswear pieces is also on offer.

Neil Hobson, head of retail at Toast, said: “Over the past two years we have experienced a renewed appreciation for thoughtfully designed, quality clothing, and we felt it was the right time to reintroduce our menswear collection of of functional and relaxed pieces that sit both within a man’s and a woman’s wardrobe.”

Success in attracting a host of both major established and new brands to Carnaby has been core to Shaftesbury’s revival since returning from retail lockdowns in the spring. The landlord said it has signed over 60 new retail, hospitality and leisure brands to its London ‘villages’, which include Carnaby, since 1 October 2020.

Last week, Shaftesbury said weekend footfall is currently at or above 2019 levels, while weekdays are at approximately 80%.
