Titan Industries taps footwear vet Joel Oblonsky as CEO

Titan Industries, footwear licensee for Badgley Mischka and Splendid, has announced Joel Oblonsky as its new CEO. Oblonsky brings twenty years of experience from Nine West Group, Polo Ralph Lauren and Nina Footwear.

Oblonsky was formerly the CEO of Nine West Group NY and has also served as the president of Polo and Lauren Footwear brands and Lauren Accessories at Ralph Lauren Corporation.

Oblonsky was also president and COO of Nina Footwear Corporations and has a track record of building brands from start-up to top-10 brands in the industry. His experience spans design, global manufacturing, merchandising, marketing, buying, sales and planning.

Oblonsky said in a release that he views Titan as being at a point where it is primed for growth, citing its "combination of proprietary brands and prestigious licenses" that, in his opinion, have "the ability to expand."

Commenting on the company's plans for the future, Titan's founder, Joe Ouaknine, who is chairman and interim CEO of Titan Industries, explained, "As part of the comprehensive review that we have been conducting over the past several months, we have been evaluating each brand in our portfolio and have been identifying where our time and resources are best spent."

Titan now focuses on volume brands that are sold both through direct-to-retail and global networks. According to Ouaknine, "We felt that it was in the best interest of our Company to allocate our resources to larger volume, higher margin brands. We expect to continue to evaluate opportunities to further rationalize our portfolio and maximize value."

Oblonsky's appointment as CEO is effective immediately.
