Spanish group Cortefiel to open first U.S stores in September

Leading Spanish clothing group Cortefiel has unveiled plans to attack the U.S market with its first store opening planned for September. The group’s namesake brand will open in September, with a further 5 Cortefiel stores planned for the following months. In 2014 and 2015, the group envisages store openings for its other brands Springfield, Women’s Secret and Pedro del Hierro.


The expansion is part of an agreement with Saudi Arabian group Al Hokair which specializes in fashion retail and has international partnerships with brands such as Banana Republic, Gap, Topshop and Marks and Spencer’s.

As a start, the group is planning to open standalone stores in the North-East region of the country from, coinciding with the September presentation of brand Pedro del Hierro Madrid at New York Fashion Week. Over the next five years, the group plans to open 80 stores in the country.

The Cortefiel group was founded in Madrid in 1880 and today has retail network of 1,900 stores across 70 countries.
