Sosandar announces death of non-executive chairman
Womenswear e-tailer Sosandar has become used to releasing good news, but on Monday it had the sad task of announcing that its non-executive chairman has died.
The company said: “It is with regret that Sosandar announces that Bill Murray, non-executive chairman of the company, has passed away. His fellow board members and all his other colleagues are deeply saddened by his passing. The company will provide a further update in due course.”
Co-CEOs Ali Hall and Julie Lavington added: “We learned of the passing of Bill over the weekend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him. Bill has left a lasting legacy to the business and his dedication and commitment to the success and growth of Sosandar will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and condolences to Bill's family and loved ones during this terribly difficult and sad time.”
Murray was a seasoned executive and until 2008 had spent 22 years with Haymarket Media Group, the publisher of titles such as Campaign and PR Week.
He started focusing on digital in the late 1990s and helped Haymarket develop its online business. He began working with Sosandar’s founders in early 2014, assisting them with fundraising and numerous aspects of bringing the business to life. He became chairman of the Sosandar board at its inception in early 2016.
