Shaftesbury launches Carnaby Cares campaign

Published

Shaftesbury has unveiled a digital campaign to highlight and promote the wide range of Covid-19 projects being delivered by Carnaby Street stores and restaurants.

Running across Carnaby’s social media channels and website, the Carnaby Cares campaign supports initiatives such as BA&SH’s ‘I Will Hug You Later’ T-shirt, which raises funds for NHS Charities.

“Since lockdown commenced, many of our retail and restaurant tenants in Carnaby were amongst the first to launch various initiatives to support the NHS, key workers and the most vulnerable. The inspirational content shows how businesses have adapted to help others, and shines a light on the positive community spirit,” said Simon Quayle, director of Shaftesbury.

More than 100 retail brands and over 60 restaurants have made the Carnaby area their home. Located in the heart of London’s West End, the district spans 14 streets.

Campaign highlights include Barbour, which has put its factories to producing PPE equipment for hospitals and key workers; and Scandinavian fashion brand Samsøe Samsøe, which is collaborating with the Danish Red Cross to help secure medical equipment for healthcare professionals.

American eyewear brand Moscot has pledged over $1.5 million worth of eyeglasses to frontline personnel and Vintage Ralph Lauren store RRL has donated $10 million to help the World Health Organisation caring for people with cancer who are especially vulnerable at this time.

Beauty brands have also announced several initiatives. Aesop, the Australian skincare brand, donated a number of its products to UK hospitals and launched a mindfulness playlist. And make-up brand M.A.C. is donating $10 million to over 250 local organisations across the world.

Meanwhile, various restaurants are helping raise funds to provide meals to NHS teams, including Leon, Dishoom, Pizza Pilgrims and Rosa’s Thai Cafe.
