Selfridges to host upscae car boot sale this weekend

Car boot sales have never been this chic. This outdoor experience moves as far away as possible from early morning visits to windswept fields attempting to find a trestle-table bargain for a few pounds.

So cut to Selfridges’ London car park where on Saturday (20 May), the upscale department store is hosting a car boot sale of its own.

It promises pre-loved fashion where every piece is up to 75% off with all the proceeds going to Women for Women International, enabling the charity to continue working with women living in countries affected by conflict.

Behind the event is Alex Eagle, founder of the Alex Eagle Studio, The Store X, and latterly her annual #SheInspiresMe car boot sales selling past-season, vintage and pre-loved designer goods.

Her previous events have seen celebrities such as Helen Mirren donating a Bafta dress and Kate Moss emptying her wardrobe for the cause. However, 2023’s iteration promises to be the most prominent yet.

As part of Worn Again, a season of experimental and circular shopping experiences at Selfridges, so far more than 100 brands and VIPs have donated items including Vogue deputy editor Sarah Harris, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner and occasionwear label Rico.

Items from Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Elizabeth Saltzman, Jenny Packham, Laura Bailey, Manolo Blanhnik, Margherita Missoni, Reformation and Simone Rocha will also be for sale.
