Richard Nicoll dies suddenly in Australia

Published
Oct 21, 2016

Australia-based designer Richard Nicoll has died suddenly of what is believed to be a heart attack. Aged only 38, he was taken to hospital on Friday but died soon after. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Nicoll, who had worked for Jack Wills among other brands, died suddenly on Friday in Sydney

London-born Nicoll was raised in Perth, Australia and had spent the past few years working on projects in his adopted country. However, he was due to take up a post in Germany next year with Adidas.

Trained at Central Saint Martins in London he became a regular at London Fashion Week after setting up his own label in 2005 and boasted a strong celebrity client list.

While running his label he was also creative head for womenswear at Cerruti but left the firm after the Li & Fung takeover saw the company shift its focus to menswear.

He has also worked at Jack Wills, Topshop and Louis Vuitton.

Nicoll shuttered his label in 2014 and had spent the time since focusing on creative projects with a number collaborators.
