Surf lifestyle brand Reef and Bedwin & The Heartbreakers founder Masafumi Watanabe launched this month the third installment of the M.W. x Reef collaboration collection.

The partnership between Reef and Masafumi spans three years and draws inspiration from military uniforms and the laid-back ease of a beach lifestyle. Masafumi has designed past collections with seasonality in mind, introducing sweatpants, cargo pants, hoodies and outerwear to the laid back casual brand.

This year’s nine-piece capsule continues the storyline by combining Masafumi’s interpretation of vintage California and Reef’s commitment to comfort.

"I'm inspired by life on the beach—camping on the beach, or spending all day surfing in Southern California," says Masafumi. "As you can see, there are military details like functional pockets and quality materials in the collection for a surfer on the move, exploring up and down the coast."

The ‘Just Passing Through’ lifestyle of 1950s surfers in San Diego and Malibu is represented by vintage ringer tees, button up shirts, board shorts and rubber sandals that feature fig leaf prints. The collection also features Reef’s new Voyage leather sandal that pays homage to the classic California lifestyle, and the M.W. x Reef Landis shoe with a wearable canvas upper and print detail on the binding.

"We designed this 3rd collection around a Spring release and were inspired by REEF's deep roots in surf culture," explains Tom Cooke, Reef VP of Footwear, "specifically we looked at vintage California surfing from the 1950's-1970's as a point of reference. It's simple, timeless surf wear that's been elevated through Masafumi's choices around comfortable, quality materials and details."

M.W. x Reef is available now on the Reef website. Prices range from $25 to $110.
