Première Vision to spotlight sustainability in New York

Published
Jul 4, 2019

This July’s edition of fashion trade fair Première Vision New York will focus on sustainability and online sourcing, presenting visitors with 213 exhibitors from 22 different countries, including 32 newcomers, 14 CFDA-selected local manufacturers and 73 design studios.

The two-day event will see the return of Première Vision’s Smart Talks, with speakers including creative consultant Domenica Leibowitz and the CFDA’s Johanna Sapicas, who will be presenting the CFDA’s new sustainability resource hub, and François Souchet, who will speak about the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular Initiative.

Founder of the Fair Fashion Center Cara Smyth will also be discussing company values and operational efficiencies with Première Vision Smart creation consultant Giusy Bettoni, while Ralph Lauren’s Devon Leahy will present the brand’s new global citizenship and sustainability strategy.

Elsewhere, Angela Luna of ADIFF and Lucy Jones of FFORA will be on hand to discuss new systems of design and business models, with Circular System SPC’s Isaac Nichelson rounding off the Smart Talk program with a presentation entitled “The regenerative future: taking fashion beyond zero impact.”

Along with the Smart Talks, there will be a series of nine fashion seminars covering topics ranging from Fall/Winter 2021 trend tasting to sportswear and the US trade war’s impact on the fashion industry.

The Lace Review, a touring exhibition displaying the last 14 French Leavers lace makers, will also make its only US stopover as part of the trade fair.

On the show floor, exhibitors will be organized into five sectors – Leather, Accessories, Designs, Manufacturing and Fabrics – creating a circuit through which visitors can find everything they need to make a complete collections of leather goods, apparel and footwear.

Visitors will also be able to discover the Première Vision Marketplace, which will soon be launching on the US market. Launched in Europe in September 2018, this B-to-B e-commerce platform currently hosts a total of 985 online shops, including weavers and tanners from the Première Vision shows, and weavers from the Denim Première Vision show.

The Marketplace team will be in attendance in New York to present the platform to visitors and will also be giving a talk entitled “Your online sourcing during your creative process” on the first day of the show.

This summer’s Première Vision NY will take place at New York’s Pier 94 and will run July 16 through 17.
