Preen by Thornton Bregazzi is V&A's next Fashion in Motion partner

London’s Victoria & Albert Museum has announced that Preen by Thornton Bregazzi will be the next subject of its Fashion in Motion series.

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi - V&A

The globally recognised fashion brand, worn by celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Bosworth, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Cate Blanchett and the Duchess of Cambridge, will showcase four free catwalk shows in the museum’s Raphael Gallery this month.

Taking place on Friday 21 June at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 8pm, the show will feature a collection of current and archival pieces chosen to represent the brand’s loyalty to floral motifs and pagan references to coincide with the Summer Solstice on 21 June and its celebration of light, nature and growth.

“As a west London based brand, having the V&A on our doorstep is such a blessing - the museum has always been an endless source of inspiration for our designs,” said Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, who founded the brand in 1996.

“Elements of Victorian culture and costume seep into our collections and the floral motifs of the arts and crafts movement often form the basis of our signature prints. We feel honoured to show our work in an institution that has been so formative to Preen’s brand DNA.”

Oriole Cullen, V&A fashion curator, added: “As an important London fashion brand for over two decades, we are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase the work of Preen. It is particularly significant for us as Justin and Thea have drawn so much inspiration from V&A collections over the years.”

By becoming the V&A’s latest Fashion in Motion partner, Preen joins a long list of designers who have been featured at the museum. Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood and Yohji Yamamoto have all previously presented their collections to the wider public as part of the Fashion in Motion initiative.

The fashion and design museum is also currently hosting ‘Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams', the largest and most comprehensive Dior exhibition in UK history, until September.
