Playtime New York sees a slight downturn in the number of visitors

The latest edition of international trade show Playtime New York, which took place from August 3 to 5, saw a slight decrease in the number of visitors compared to the figures from last March. Visitor numbers declined from 1662 to 1412. Organizers of the trade fair dedicated to the universe of children attributed this downtick to the relocation of the event to a new space in the heart of Wall Street.

Nevertheless, the principal buyers, notably from the major department stores, were all in attendance.

Looking at the numbers, more than 93% of the visitors were from the Americas, with nearly 89% from the United States itself.

Playtime NY brought together 90 brands, of which 51% were American and 49% were from around the world. Ready-to wear was the dominant offering (80%). Accessories made up 8% and shoes 6%. The stuffed animal category also represented 8% of the exhibitors, with design objects at 5% and other categories rounding out the total.

The next New York edition in March 2014 expects to attract 130 international brands.
