Jörg Wichmann, the organiser of Panorama Berlin, has officially cancelled the summer edition of the fashion trade show due to the global health crisis. The event was due to take place from 30 June to 2 July. The decision was taken despite receiving good feedback from the industry, as organisers determined that it would be impossible to make the necessary organisational plans for such an event over the next few weeks.

In a statement shared by the fashion fair online, organisers said the new situation is an opportunity to think about new ways of networking at a time when physical contact is reduced to a minimum. A task force has been set up to work on a “modern, digital product” that will be unveiled in mid-April.

“Manufacturers and retailers really need this kind of exchange, which is why we want to offer them the platform and market overview they need. This product will be designed in a cost-effective and solution-oriented way. We are inviting the industry to shape it together,” Jörg Wichmann said in a blog post.

The industry is now expecting to see a similar announcement from Premium, Seek, Fashiontech and Fashiontech Studio. The events, organised by Anita Tillmann, are scheduled to take place from 30 June to 2 July.
