Online luxury retailer, Net-a-Porter has debuted its social shopping app, The Net Set, to the public after having kept the app exclusive for members at its initial launch in May.

The Net Set doubles as a shop and a social network by allowing users to shop a live feed of items, comment on styles, make recommendations and peruse the virtual closets of other fashionable women. “We’re the first luxury retailer to launch a social network,” said Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet to Forbes.

The app also has an image recognition feature that can match an outfit to items available on the app via a photograph.

"Digital innovation doesn't stand still and neither do we," said Massenet to The Telegraph. "We are incredibly excited to launch the world's first luxury shoppable mobile social network where fashionable digital women all over the world can connect and enjoy a unique and seamless shopping experiencing across all devices. The rise of social media and style blogs has shown that women around the world are inspired by each other's style and their closets. The Net Set is to mobile in 2015 what Net-A-Porter.com was to desktop in 2000.”

The Net Set launched with as many as 15,000 members in May.
