N Brown names new non-executive director

The owner of JD Williams and Simply Be is strengthening its board of directors with the appointment of Vicky Mitchell, an expert in consumer finance.

Mitchell is joining the N Brown board as a non-executive director with immediate effect. She will chair the group’s financial services board committee in addition to becoming a member of the audit and risk committee.

Her 20+ years ’experience at Capital One, one of the UK’s 10 largest credit card companies, will serve N Brown well as its financial services unit is an important revenue driver, generating nearly £300m a year. 

At Capital One, Mitchell served as chief operating officer as well as chief risk officer and chief legal counsel.

She is currently a non-executive director at Lookers, the car dealership chain, and sits on the board of West Bromwich Building Society. During her time at Capital One, Vicky also served on the board of the UK Cards Association.

Considered a top 10 clothing and footwear digital retailer in the UK, N Brown offers customers the option to spread the cost of shopping with one of its brands through its financial services proposition. 

The unit’s 10.8% increase in revenue in financial year 2019 helped offset a 5.6% decline in product revenue.
