Moda Operandi appoints Marc Rofsky to head of ready-to-wear

Published
Jul 2, 2022

Moda Operandi announced on Friday the appointment of Marc Rofsky to the role of director of buying, ready-to-wear (RTW), effective July 11.

Marc Rofsky - Moda Operandi

The New York-based company said Rofsky will oversee the luxury fashion company's complete RTW portfolio across designer, evening, contemporary, resortwear, denim, and ski categories for the both the in season (boutique) and next season (trunkshow) business lines. The executive will be responsible for merchandising strategy, portfolio management, new brand acquisition, and the development of exclusive capsules, as well as "special projects" under the RTW division.

He will report to April Hennig, Moda Operandi's chief merchandising officer.

Having joined Moda Operandi in 2021, Rofsky has spent the last 12 months as senior buyer of designer RTW, a category which has recorded double-digit growth under his leadership. Prior to Moda Operandi, Rofsky served as director of wholesale for Valentino and senior buyer of designer RTW at Barneys New York.

"Marc is a uniquely talented merchant with an innate passion for product and strong business acumen," said Hennig.

"He has been with us for over a year now and during that time has developed strong relationships with our brand partners and a keen understanding of Moda’s unique customer base. Marc's sharp eye for fashion and deep experience in luxury retail be instrumental in helping us drive our apparel strategy forward during this exciting time at Moda Operandi."

Rofsky's promotion comes on the back of Lisa Ruffle's departure from her role as director of buying, RTW. Rofsky will be succeeded by Tiernan Cowling, who joins Moda Operandi from Kirna Zabete.

The company's fashion division reshuffle comes two months after Moda Operandi revealed it had officially expanded into beauty, a move that prompted the fashion platform to appoint its first-ever beauty chief, Jessica Matlin.
