Marc Jacobs set to launch affordable 'The Marc Jacobs' line

Published

Marc Jacobs has announced it will launch a new affordably priced line entitled "The Marc Jacobs," according to local reports. The line is set to debut with the fashion house's pre-fall 2019 collection.

Little is known about what The Marc Jacobs premiere designs will look like, despite a WWD report, but an image leaked and re-posted on Marc Jacob's personal Instagram shows two models wearing rugby striped sweaters, brightly colored corduroy pants and long single-loop necklaces. In a caption, Jacobs said, "we shot our fresh new pre-fall collection to be launched in May last week."

According to Jacobs, these photos all feature "a wide variety of twins" wearing the line.

Jacobs continued, saying pieces from the collection are currently being shown to buyers.

Elle reported that the line will be featured in a look book styled by Russian stylist Lotta Volkova with photography by Hugo Scott, a member of the Marc Jacobs in-house creative team.

Marc Jacobs' former modestly-priced line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, was discontinued and incorporated into the main Marc Jacobs line in 2015 despite strong sales.

Katie Hillier, who previously designed accessories for the fashion house, and Luella Bartley served as the former line's creative director and design director, respectively.

This announcement, with all its evocation of the Marc by Marc Jacobs line gone by, marks the second of the namesake designer's allusions to the past this year, following an updated release of the 1993 Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis grunge collection

Marc Jacobs is yet to respond to FashionNetwork.com on the collection reports.
