Mapic to hold Shanghai event on June 11-12

Published
Jun 8, 2015

The countdown has begun for Mapic Shanghai. The event, which has been dubbed Retail Real Estate Market, will be held from June 11-12 at the Intercontinental Puxi Shanghai Hotel. It will be the premiere of Reed Midem’s new commercial and retail planning event, whose main show is held each year in Cannes in November.

The Chinese event is presenting itself as more of a forum than a trade show. It’s true that Mapic has gradually presented the Cannes event as a hybrid, where what happens around the show, especially in the hotels, is as important as the discussions at the trade show itself.

Organizers are awaiting some 200 attendees in Shanghai, including many top industry professionals. Some 130 to 150 retailers should be present, including some fifty Chinese retailers

According to Nathalie Depetro, Director of Mapic, the event will welcome Chinese policymakers, Western leaders in commercial real estate, retailers that are already present in China, and others that are considering entering the market. Celio and Ladurée, for example, will be attending.

Both days will feature lectures in the morning and discussions during afternoon sessions. The lectures will cover both physical shopping centers and online retail, which very important in China. A session focused on online retail will also be held on June 12 with China Connect.

Other topics to be discussed: "How can international luxury brands and fast retailing succeed in entering the Chinese market," with speakers from Camicissima and Mango in particular, and "3.0 Shopping Center, the right formula to attract the consumers."
