Mango to open womenswear store in centre: mk this summer

Spanish fashion giant Mango is continuing its ambitious expansion programme in Britain, selecting the popular centre:mk mall in Milton Keynes for its latest location.

The new store, which is set to open this summer, will have a selling space of over 4,500 sq ft and will exclusively distribute the Mango Woman collection.

The latest announcement continues its programme of UK openings to take its tally above 40 stores. This included the opening of its first standalone store in Newcastle in November at the key Eldon Square mall, which is one of the most-visited shopping centres in the UK. Last year, it also opened stores in Glasgow, the Bluewater mall in Kent and at London’s Battersea Power Station.

Mango’s centre:mk signing follows a strong 2022 performance for the mall with footfall up 31% on 2021, outperforming both the UK and South East industry benchmarks, its  management team said. Christmas also proved to be a “standout” trading period for the destination, with womenswear, accessories, and jewellery sales up by as much as 32.6% from 2021, “affirming Mango’s strategic move to sign at the centre”.

Kevin Duffy, Centre Director at centre:mk, said: “We are so proud of the continued upward momentum of centre:mk’s success. As a destination, we consistently outperform national benchmarks due to the appeal of our stores including one of the strongest anchor line-ups in the UK, and the signing of Mango is no exception to this; its commitment to the destination reaffirms centre:mk as a leading destination for internationally renowned retailers.”

Mango is the latest in a series of leading brands to commit to centre:mk, following the openings of Ted Baker, Charles Tyrwhitt, Cosy Club and Loupe in 2022.
