Mango opens first store in Newcastle

Published

Mango is continuing its ambitious expansion programme in Britain and has opened its very first standalone store in Newcastle, a city known for its strong shopping offer.

It has opened a 400 sq m store selling the Woman offer at the key Eldon Square mall, which is one of the most-visited shopping centres in the UK.

It comes as the Spanish fashion retail giant is in a major expansion phase with new stores opening in multiple regions as well as in Britain.

The company previously only had a Newcastle concession in the Fenwick department store so the opening is an important step forward in the area.

“The opening of our first store in Newcastle is a step further in our strategic goals for international expansion and strengthens our presence in the United Kingdom, a strategic market for Mango and one of the most important for the fashion world”, said Daniel López, Mango’s Global Expansion Director.

The store, which has created 15 new jobs, features the Mediterranean-inspired concept, New Med, which has been a feature of new and revamped flagships globally in recent periods.

The new location also features a Committed Box, a container in which customers can deposit their unwanted clothing and footwear “to give them a second life”, in addition to a dedicated click & collect zone for garment collections and returns.

Mango has been in Britain since 1998 and has more than 40 stores in the country, including both directly-operated locations, franchises and concessions.

This year it has also opened in Glasgow, the Bluewater mall in Kent and at Battersea Power Station.
