New York-based department store chain Macy’s, Inc. announced on Monday that it has appointed company veteran Nata Dvir as the new chief merchandising officer of the Macy’s brand.

In her new role, Dvir will lead merchandising at Macy’s, overseeing all merchandising categories and private brands. She succeeds Patti Ongman, who is retiring at the end of fiscal 2020, and will report to Macy’s, Inc. chairman and CEO Jeff Gennette.

Having graduated from Syracuse University in 2005, Dvir began her career as an executive trainee at Macy’s. Since then, she has held a range of leadership roles in the company’s merchant organization and currently serves as SVP and general business manager for beauty and center core merchandise.

She was named general business manager for beauty in September 2017, a newly created role in which she helped transform the Macy’s cosmetics and fragrance business by improving customer experience both in store and online, creating experiential shopping environments and boosting digital engagement.

In February 2020, Dvir’s responsibilities were expanded to include center core merchandise, which features jewelry, handbags, shoes, intimate apparel and accessories. Her key points of focus for this business have included introducing new brands, updating products and expanding online assortment.

“Nata is a strong merchant with deep connections to our partners, first-rate instincts and an eye for newness,” commented Gennette in a release. “I’m confident that she will continue our merchandising transformation, influencing our customers’ personal style through accessible fashion, clear value and an enhanced digital and store experience.”

Dvir’s appointment as chief merchandising officer is effective February 1, 2021.
