Jewellery’s love affair with UK retail continues to sparkle. Danish retailer Maanesten has entered the British market for the first time, opening a store in London in the Shaftesbury-operated Carnaby area.

The UK debut comes as Maanesten said the last few years has seen a “record speed of growth” for the jewellery and accessories retailer, with the move into the UK reflecting that success.

The store, located on Beak Street, “will have Maanesten’s identity and be an important part of our spiritual universe”, it added, noting it will also stage “spiritual events”.

Henrik Callesen, Creative Director of Maanesten, said: “We have big ambitions about being widely represented in the UK market. We want our stores located in urban areas, like Carnaby in Soho, where we feel a synergy with the surroundings. Together with our UK partners, we will balance becoming a well-known brand while staying true to our DNA and values.”

Samantha Bain-Mollison, Retail Director at Shaftesbury added that Maanesten “will be among other successful Scandi brands such as Stine Goya, Samsøe Samsøe, and Ganni, whose first London stores are also in Carnaby. The brand creates unique designs that will sit well in the destination’s retail mix and offers our customer product that they cannot find in other UK locations.”
