M.A.C. teams up with Chromat on new collection

Published

Chromat won the chance to collaborate with M.A.C. as part of a CFDA/Vogue project. The new collection features electric colors and limited edition packaging in keeping with the activewear line’s aesthetic.

Chromat beat out fellow emerging fashion labels Cushnie et Ochs, Juan Carlos Obando, Tanya Taylor, and Tome to create the capsule collection with the cosmetics giant. The M.A.C. x Chromat collection heavily features the color blue, a shade also found in Chromat’s collections, in the form of lipstick, gel eyeliner and mascara. The collaboration also features more wearable colors, like a neon orange lipstick and eye shadow palette that includes both neutrals and bright colors.

The Chromat collection joins a long line of M.A.C. with fashion designers, including Giambattista Valli, Zac Posen, Prabal Gurung and Alice + Olivia. The cosmetics brand is owned by Estée Lauder, which recently dropped its Estée Edit brand after it failed to reach sales expectations.

Chromat was founded by Becca McCharen in 2010 and is known for its architecture-conscious activewear. The brand has also earned praise for using models with diverse body types in its runway shows.

The collection will be available at M.A.C. on June 29. Prices are keeping with other M.A.C. collections, with the eye shadow palette retailing for $32 and the eyeliner pencil for $17.
