Louis Vuitton opens time capsule exhibition in LA

Published
May 18, 2018

Louis Vuitton's time capsule exhibition paying tribute to the brand's history and design has arrived in the US, opening first in Los Angeles at Westfield Century City.

Pieces on display at the Time Capsule exhibition - Louis Vuitton

The brand explains, "Time capsule is a journey through the history of the Maison that revisits its landmark innovations in technology and design."

The exhibit traces Vuitton's journey from its establishment in 1854 through to the present day, including Hollywood ties, "using rare and celebrated objects selected from the Louis Vuitton archive." It features six rooms paying tribute to design, travel and craftsmanship.

Unique to the LA stop is specially curated content that illustrates the relationship between the label and Hollywood. LA-specific content added to the exhibit includes a vanity designed by actress Sharon Stone that was auctioned for charity, as well as brand ambassador Emma Stone's Golden Globes dress from this year.

Sketches of trunks for Walt Disney, a photo of Jerry Lewis traveling with a set of branded luggage, and Lauren Bacall's vanity trunk also are on display.

Westfield describes the LA exhibit as a "handpicked selection of imaginative and ingenious creations." Also in the exhibit are special brand pieces, such as the artist series from Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami, Supreme collaborations and the fleece backpack worn by Kobe Bryant in 2014.

Louis Vuitton's time capsule opened on Friday, May 18th at The Atrium at Westfield Century City and runs through June 10th. It is open to the public and free of charge.
