Loewe names Taylor Russell as its new brand ambassador

Loewe — the LVMH-owned brand creatively directed by Jonathan Anderson — has named actress Taylor Russell as a new Global Ambassador for the house. 

As well as opening the SS23 women’s runway show, she’ll appear in its upcoming SS23 pre-collection campaign. 

Anderson said that he’s “never been so inspired by someone” and that when he met her through a mutual friend (the Italian director Luca Guadagnino) “it was the start of a very special friendship. I’m so proud that she agreed to open the SS23 show, and excited to have her join the Loewe family”.

Russell remarked on how she’s the Spanish brand’s first US-based Global Ambassador and hailed Anderson’s creativity, as well as his “distinct vision and voice”. She added: “I am excited for our imaginations to reach new heights as we explore and collaborate in this incredibly special partnership.”

Russell is gaining increasing attention and currently stars as Maren in Guadagnino’s Bones and All opposite another fashion industry favourite Timothée Chalamet, as well as Mark Rylance. 

The film made a big impact as its world premiere at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival and will be released in cinemas later this month so the timing is perfect for Loewe.

The actress is also known for her role in Trey Edward Shults’ Waves in 2019 and won a Gotham Award in the category of ‘Best Breakthrough Actor’ for her performance. She’s also won a number of other awards and was recognised by Time magazine for one of ‘Best Movie Performances of 2019’. 

She’s a producer and director herself too via the short film The Heart Still Hums that she co-directed. The 29-minute documentary chronicles five women as they fight for their children through the cycle of drug addiction, homelessness, and the trauma of neglect from their own parents.
