Klarna supports Red Cross via Asos Giveback Day

European payments provider Klarna has pledged to donate $1, £1 or €1 for every Pay Later transaction placed at Asos on Wednesday 29 April to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The money raised will support the ICRC in its frontline response to Covid-19, helping fund activities such as sanitation to prevent the spread of the disease.

Klarna said there will be no limit on the amount that it will donate as part of Giveback Day and has promised to honour every Klarna transaction placed at Asos in the relevant currency.

ICRC will also use the donation to support vital health infrastructure such as hospitals in countries affected by conflict and ensure access to clean water for countless communities. 

​“The ICRC is carrying out essential work to improve protection and reduce the spread of Covid-19 and we are delighted to be supporting the efforts with our Giveback Day,” said Luke Griffiths, commercial vice-president at Klarna.

“We look forward to enabling our customers to directly support the international fight against the virus and demonstrate how all of us can contribute, wherever we are.” 

Eve Williams, brand experience director at Asos added: ​“At Asos we want to do as much as we can to show our appreciation for the vital organisations that are helping during this worrying time. We are pleased to be able to extend our Asos Supports campaign to this initiative with Klarna in supporting the ICRC.” 

Using Klarna’s services, online shoppers buying with Asos can choose to pay up to 60 days after placing their order. This gives them access to trying on the items before spending any money. The online fashion marketplace has more than 85,000 products listed on its site, sourced from 800 brands in addition to a mix of in-house labels.
