Kit Neale designs quirky footwear collection for Dune

Dune has teamed up with London-based designer Kit Neale to release a collection of shoes and accessories featuring unique seafood imagery.

Spanning ten footwear styles in a range of colourways and a selection of accessories – all named after fish – the collection is a playful representation of the graphics on the packaging of seafood products available in London’s supermarkets.

“No matter whether you’re in a classic British Fish and Chip shop, a supermarket in China Town, Billingsgate Fish Market, or the Afro-Caribbean food section of a convenience store - the graphics on seafood products are strangely often highly graphic, colourful, illustrated designs,” says Neale.

“I took these graphics and created a print and range that was reflective of some kind of uniform that you might find in a kaleidoscopic fishmongers or modish Sushi bar. Think if Kit Neale had a fishmongers or Sushi restaurant chain... what would the workers wear?”

Colour blocked and printed slip-ons and trainers have been created using a sharp colour palette in a range of luxe hi-shine and matte leathers, canvas and textured nubuck.

Neale’s original print designs are featured on the uppers or in the linings of some of the shoes and accessories, as well as a bespoke fish detail and Kit Neale and Dune’s logo designed exclusively for the collection.

Formal derby style shoes, and boots in hi-shine leathers with chunky soles reference the heavy-duty footwear used by fishmongers.

The collection also includes accessories like of a holdall, rucksack, wash bags and passport holders.

“I have always wanted to develop a footwear and accessories range and Dune provided an amazing opportunity to collaboratively develop a collection using their expertise and manufacturing knowledge with my tongue-in-cheek concepts.”

The collection launches on 9 October in selected Dune London stores and online.
