Istituto Marangoni's I’M Alumni Collections Revolution opens for submissions

Istituto Marangoni has launched the third edition of its ‘I’m Alumni Collections Revolution’ competition to support emerging designers in their journey towards creating their own brand.

Tianyi Li won last year's competition - Istituto Marangoni

The design competition, open exclusively to alumni of the school, will provide technical, financial and logistical support to one former student, with the opportunity to present the winning collection in a fashion show during the official Milan Fashion Week schedule in September 2019.

To participate, candidates are invited to present creative proposals for an entire Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear collection, as well as their CV, portfolio and a lookbook of their past work via a dedicated online platform by 15 March.

A committee of experts composed of top Istituto Marangoni executives including CEO Roberto Riccio, chief alumni Giulia Pirovano, and group director of education Malcolm McInnes, as well as professionals from the fashion industry will examine the projects.

Istituto Marangoni said its network of partners also offers the winner the opportunity to promote the collection at major international events and secure new distribution channels.

Previous winners of the I’m Alumni Collections Revolution competition include Armando Costa in 2017 and Tianyi Li in 2018, whose collection went on to sell on luxury e-tailer Luisaviaroma.com.

“For those who love fashion, being able to see their collection show in prestigious international settings is much more than a dream come true”, says Armando Costa, “It's the beginning of an important life project”.

"The added value of attending a school like Istituto Marangoni is also expressed through unique projects like I'M Alumni Collections Revolution and the chance to immediately 'think big', to design a collection that expresses the designer's creativity combined with an entrepreneurial vision”, adds Tianyi Li.

A fashion design school, Istituto Marangoni has an alumni community of over 40,000 professionals.
