Ispo Beijing sees 38% increase in attendance

Published
Feb 28, 2012

The last edition of Ispo Beijing, the trade show organised by Messe München, took place from February 22 to 25 at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing. Launched in 2005, the Chinese version of the outdoor fair saw a 38% jump in attendance as well as a 47% increase in the number of brands and a 28% rise in exhibitors in comparison to 2011. Its floor space also expanded to 35,000m² (+17%).

These figures reflect not only the growth of the outdoor market in China but also the growing interest from international brands in the trade show, with Bogner, Deuter and Lowe Alpine making their first appearance this year. Thanks to its expanded area, Ispo Beijing incorporated two new segments dedicated to Action Sports (snowboard, skateboard, etc) and Sports Fashion, which are attracting more and more attention from the Asian market.

The potential of the Chinese market in the sports market has certainly caught the eyes of German trade fair organisers, with Messe Friedrichshafen organising Asia Outdoor, Messe Frankfurt creating Outdoor China and even Messe München with another Ispo fair in Shanghai.
