Indie brand Meander expands retail footprint in Edinburgh, London

Scottish clothing brand Meander Apparel has boosted its retail footprint in Edinburgh and London having recently secured a six-figure investment deal.

The outdoor lifestyle brand, which had been trading on Edinburgh’s George Street via a pop-up store from October 2020, has now moved to a permanent store and HQ on North West Circus Place in the upmarket neighbourhood of Stockbridge. 

The store carries the label’s core collection of functional and minimalist Scandinavian-inspired garments, “which are designed to be worn from city to mountain or bike to office”. 

Co-founder Jill Henry said the two years spent on George Street have been “amazing for our brand but we wanted a larger space for our growing head office team and where we can manage our e-commerce business, which this store does perfectly”.

It will remain on George Street in the lead up to Christmas, before closing the pop-up in January. 

The new store joins its line-up that includes a space in Spitalfields,  London. And is London presence will be added to in November with a new Seven Dials, Covent Garden store. 

The company which stocks its own brand as well as other eco-focused Scottish labels such as Bellroy, Tens, Ooni and more, has benefited from being worn by the right kind of celebrities who are likely to resonate with its target customer. They include Sir Richard Branson and Olympic Cyclist Callum Skinner. 

As mentioned, in the last year, Meander secured an investment round of £350,000 from “two high net worth individuals with backgrounds in retail and technology”.
