Hudson's Bay spotlights racial equity with influential Canadians

The Hudson’s Bay Foundation is using the window displays at flagship locations across the country to amplify the voices of eight influential Canadians.

The "window takeover” at Hudson’s Bay flagship locations in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal will spotlight the answers from change-makers to the important question: ‘What change would you like to see over the next ten years to accelerate racial equity in Canada?’

The featured Canadians, as part of the window takeover, include sports media personality, Akil Augustine; person of interest, Amy Shio; 3x Olympic medalist, Andre De Grasse; fashion designer, activist, George Sully; Indigenous artist, fashion designer, Lesley Hampton; TV personality, Liz Trinnear; social content creator, Saira Arshad; and makeup artist, hair stylist, Veronica Chu.

This initiative follows the launch of Hudson’s Bay 'Charter for Change', a Hudson’s Bay Foundation initiative committing $30 million over ten years to accelerating racial equity in Canada. The windows are complemented by a new video entitled 'Generation of Change' and a fundraising drive for the Foundation in-store and on TheBay.com.

“Hudson’s Bay Charter for Change is a long-term, sustainable commitment to create change through empowerment, education and employment,” said Iain Nairn, president and CEO of Hudson’s Bay. “As we drive to achieve racial equity in Canada, Hudson’s Bay Foundation will continue to amplify voices and engage our customers and communities in this incredibly important work.”

Last month, the company equally announced the launch of the Hudson’s Bay Fashion Fund. Each year the fund will award one designer with a $25,000 grant, alongside a three-year mentorship program to help enter the competitive retail landscape.
