Hermès opens new store in Silicon Valley

Parisian luxury brand Hermès opened its 34th US location at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California on Friday, bringing heritage couture to Silicon Valley.

The new 6,052-square-foot space designed by Paris-based architects RDAI will host the label’s womenswear, menswear and home collections. It will also offer the brand’s core line of horse riding equipment in an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of equestrian sports in the region.

The single-storey store’s aesthetic aims to combine the heritage of the luxury fashion house with the hi-tech reputation of the neighborhood and has been conceived to blend into the surrounding landscape and buildings.

The space features large glass shopfronts and a central skylight to bring in natural light, and also displays a range of artworks including digital installations by Éric Vernhes.

For the location’s opening, French artist Eva Jospin produced some of her signature intricately worked cardboard sculptures, here inspired by the landscapes of Northern California, which will be exhibited in the store’s display windows.

Commenting on the new store in a release, Robert B. Chavez, president and CEO of Hermès US, stated, “We’re pleased to be serving a new clientele, made up of entrepreneurs and those involved in hi-tech industries, in such a dynamic region.”

The new Hermès store is located at 180 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, and is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
