Goat expands into apparel and accessories

Published
Oct 23, 2019

Online sneaker marketplace Goat has expanded its offering into apparel and accessories as the luxury resale market continues to heat up.

Goat

The new categories offer over 50 new “contemporary and luxury brands,” Goat said, including pieces from Acne Studios, Maison Margiela, Off-White, Stussy, Gucci and Saint Laurent, among others. New labels are set to be added before the end of the year.

Currently, the new offering of apparel and accessories is only available on Goat's iOS and Android apps, but will soon arrive on goat.com and Goat’s WeChat Mini Program in China.

"Goat has always served a community of individuals aspiring to be the greatest," said Eddy Lu, co-founder and chief executive officer of Goat Group. "When we first launched Goat, we focused only on sneakers to ensure we provided the best experience for our customers. Paramount to that was our authentication, product depth and discovery journey. Without these pillars, we would not be able to offer the experience we believe is necessary for someone to find a style that embraces their uniqueness and self expression."

In addition to its current resale model, the platform is now working directly with retailers and boutiques around the world to procure supply at retail price, Goat said.

"We're only in the infant stages of apparel on Goat," said Daishin Sugano, co-founder and chief product officer of Goat Group. "We're starting with the primary market, but we have plans for resale expansion. We believe in this immense opportunity and are optimally positioned to work with the best brands to tell their stories from the past, present and future."

The move marks the latest evolution of the platform since Goat launched a virtual try-on feature earlier this month.

First launched in 2015, Goat has prioritized growth in the last year, securing a $100 million investment from Foot Locker, Inc. in February and kicking off its international expansion with a launch in China in July.
