Fitbit partners with CFDA to launch new product with NY fashion label PH5

Wearable technology company Fitbit has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to launch its Fitbit Versa collection with NY-based fashion label PH5.

The collection includes six styles of knit wristbands including a stripe knit inspired by marathon runners, a trend-right metallic knit and a rib knit that brings multi-dimensional texture to the band. The styles are available in a variety of colors.

“I developed the accessories for Fitbit Versa to be fun and sporty, yet still be luxurious and convey an exclusive fashion statement,” said Wei Lin, founder of PH5, in a release.

PH5 was selected out of five emerging brands invited by Fitbit and the CFDA to submit distinctive accessory designs incorporating the Versa smartwatch.

Lin, a seven-time Ironman triathlete, said her brand's partnership with Fitbit gave her "the opportunity to create a new fashion experience rooted in health and wellness."

Fitbit's collaboration with PH5 through the CFDA is not the first time the fitness brand has partnered with a fashion designer. In 2014 the company launched a line of fitness trackers with Tory Burch and has also collaborated with street fashion brand Public School.

"We’re happy to create more fashion-forward choices for our global community,” said Tim Rosa, chief marketing officer at Fitbit. "We’ve seen great success with this strategy that brings innovative, trend-right designs to challenge the way consumers think about wearables and offer stylish options.”

Fitbit's PH5 Versa is available exclusively at Target and online through Fitbit's website. The bands retail for $40, while the Versa smartwatch itself is available from $200.
