The official schedule for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) has been revealed. Over 55 designers will take part in the upcoming MBFWA to be held at various locations in Sydney. The five-day event will focus exclusively on Resort collections, according to organisers IMG, in line with the international retail calendar in 2016.

“May marks the beginning of the global sales window for these lucrative retail collections,” said Emily Weight, Head of Fashion, IMG Fashion Events & Properties, Asia Pacific.

“The new timing and Resort offering reflects our work with the industry to maintain global relevance for the region’s leading fashion event,” said Weight.

Ready-to-wear collections will show on the first three days and will feature established designers Bec & Bridge, Bianca Spender, Aje, Manning Cartell, Discount Universe and Steven Khalil.

Swimwear and activewear brands will showcase on the fourth day and emerging talent on the fifth day.

Australian designer Dion Lee will return to the schedule, alongside Rebecca Vallance, who will make her MBFWA debut.

Alice McCall, Camilla and Swarovski are set to host special events during the week and Toni Maticevski has been named as opener to the Mercedes-Benz Presents showcase.

Industry thought leadership panels, featuring Microsoft and Ragtrader, are also schedule to take place daily.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) runs May 15-20, 2016.
