Eurovet introduces exhibitors’ selection at next Interfilière Hong Kong trade show

Interfilière Hong Kong is ready for a face-lift, and not just a cosmetic one. Organizer Eurovet has completely overhauled the format of the lingerie and swimwear sourcing show scheduled for 7th and 8th March 2017. Changes include a new selection system for exhibitors and efforts to better fulfill its mission of encouraging networking and discussion among industry professionals.

Eurovet, which organises the same show in Paris, New York and Shanghai, is breaking with tradition to do so. The event will in fact limit the number of exhibitors to about sixty (compared to some one hundred at the last edition), now chosen through a selection system that is rather extraordinary for a trade show. Eurovet has basically created a buyers' committee to conduct a blind sampling of manufacturer products as a way to objectively create the exhibitor roster.

Interfilière Hong Kong is also adopting an innovative format, leaving its traditional venue for a new one known as 'The Wave'. The show will be staged on several levels within a co-working and events area, a far cry from the impersonal feel of exhibition centres. Gone are conventional exhibitors' booths, replaced by a gallery showcasing the various companies and their expertise, and linked to data that visitors will be able to access digitally. To encourage networking, Eurovet will also invite exhibitors and visitors to dinners and other events organised within the new venue.

"We wanted to adopt a novel approach to networking, fostering interaction in a new way," said Taya de Reyniès, in charge of the lingerie section at Eurovet. "Buyers are asking for events with a more private atmosphere, alongside large-scale ones such as [Interfilière] Paris."

The revamp is an attempt to better meet this shifting demand through smaller shows like Interfilière Hong Kong. Such a format can be adapted more easily and the new concepts for the March show could well be a source of inspiration for other events.
