Elomi plus size lingerie opens NY pop-up experience

Published

Elomi, the full figure lingerie brand of Eveden Inc., a division of parent company Wacoal Europe, has opened a pop-up in NY combining plus size lingerie, art and IBM Watson data analysis in The Elomi Portrait Project.

The Elomi Portrait Project is a combination of art, fashion and data inspired by IBM Watson to convey the message that plus size women should be celebrated for their substance. Elomi paired with five female artists who created portraits of women who are pioneers of the body positivity movement.

Laura Simon, CMO, Wacoal Europe said, "It's about telling Elomi [s]tories in the most creative and engaging way. You will see as the months progress and into the new year there is more to come from the brand."

The Elomi Portrait Project culled data collected by IBM Watson from plus size influencers including blog posts, interviews and news articles. It analyzed the spoken words and data to create a profile of each woman's dominant personality traits, values and emotions. The artists were then given the IBM Watson data analysis about their subject to create their pieces of artwork.

"The fuller figured woman is finally being recognized in the fashion and retail worlds, but many brands still commoditize her size and miss the mark when it comes to fit and performance," said Simon.

To meet that need, The Elomi Portrait Project is offering professional bra fittings to the public who attend the installation.

Elomi makes bras for women in sizes 32 through 46 with cup sizes D through K. The Elomi Portrait Project is located at 393 NYC Pop Up Space (393 Broadway, ground floor). It opened on October 26th with a media event and is open to the public today from 10 to 7.
