Heritage sportswear brand Ellese has linked with Netflix’s Cobra Kai for a collection of co-branded apparel “that celebrates elements of the hit show”, which has just launched its fourth season.

Ellesse x Cobra Kai

Launched on Thursday, the collection takes inspiration from the show’s rival dojo houses featuring team hoodies, sweatshirts, long and short sleeve tees, track tops and track pants with contrasting Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do colour schemes and branding.

The show has become a cult hit since debuting on Youtube in 2018 and has spurred nostalgia for 1980s classic Karate Kid films and for the looks associated with them.

“As a heritage sportswear and lifestyle brand, we’re excited to revive some of our iconic styles for a new generation of Karate fans”, the brand said.

That means items such as the 80s nostalgia track top with detachable arms that was inspired by classic Ellesse blocks and the winning look of Boris Becker at Wimbledon. “The style references the iconic cut off top with a modern twist, giving a new Dojo aesthetic”, Ellesse said.

Team Cobra Kai stands out with pop colour detailing in a black, yellow and red aesthetic. Embroidered snake mascots run throughout with printed Cobra co-branding.

Contrasting karate house, Miyagi-do, is “met with a peaceful existence with [a] white, green and orange colour scheme and the club’s tree logoing”.

The collection also references ‘Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy’, reviving “iconic show sayings”.

Prices for the pieces start at £25 with the campaign having been shot at the UKs biggest dojo, London’s Fightzone, and showcased on four of its fighters.

The collection is available via the Ntelfix Shop, Zalando and DTLR.
