The sustainable Spanish brand is looking to expand its fashion portfolio. After the launch of its 1.0 line last June, characterized by its timeless style and premium pricing, the brand driven by entrepreneur Javier Goyeneche is launching a capsule collection in collaboration with Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The exclusive collaboration is the fruit of an alliance with Goop, the lifestyle and wellness brand founded by the American actress in 2008.

The capsule collection, which brings together the innovative and sustainable approach of the Madrid-based brand with the experience and design talent of Goop, consists of a limited five-piece capsule of garments made from recycled elements. These include plastic bottles collected from the bottom of the sea by the Ecoalf foundation's "Upcycling the Oceans" project, or an innovative material made from corn crop residues. Likewise, the garments have been made and designed around the idea of making them "easily recyclable at the end of their life cycle".

With a slightly higher price point than Ecoalf's product range, with prices ranging from 299 euros for a down jacket to 500 euros for a structured navy blue raincoat, the line includes a light white quilted poncho, a two-tone down jacket with a classic cut, as well as another navy blue version with elevated shoulder pads. The collection is now available online and in select physical stores.

"When Gwyneth and I met, we connected immediately as we share the same vision and feel the same urge towards building a sustainable lifestyle," explained Goyeneche about the collection's design, which featured the highest quality materials developed by Ecoalf over the past 12 years. "Our goal with this collaboration was to raise awareness even outside the fashion world. The collection is more than just about looking good, it's about doing the right thing and feeling good about it," added the president of the company that has been a member of the B-Cord community since 2018.

Founded in 2009, the Spanish company currently controlled by the Treis investment group claims to have developed more than 500 sustainable fabrics and recycled 275 million plastic bottles as well as 80 tons of fishing nets and tires.

Led by Andres Lopez since the beginning of last year, Ecoalf posted a turnover of 39 million euros in 2021 and expects to grow by 50% in the current fiscal year. Its latest international developments include the opening of a flagship store in Milan. Prior to joining Ecoalf, Lopez worked at Pepe Jeans.

Paltrow launched Goop 14 years ago, initially as a weekly newsletter. Gradually, the venture grew into a comprehensive lifestyle and wellness brand, offering everything from beauty products, clothing, vibrators and food supplements.
