Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn has landed a major new fashion role with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Under Armour's joint sportswear line.

The recently retired athlete and longtime Under Armour-sponsored sportswoman has been unveiled as the first team member for and ambassador of the brand's new 'Project Rock' concept. The collaborative line, which was first launched back in 2016, focuses on hard-working workout gear for athletes of every "age, gender, race, creed, sexuality or skill level". Its next instalment is scheduled for release on March 21.

"I am so excited to be on team Project Rock," said Vonn in a statement. "What I find so inspiring about Dwayne is that he always gives 110% in everything that he does. He basically stands for 100% authenticity and 100% effort."

A video shared with her 1.8 million Instagram followers also features the message: "DJ's attitude towards training, and life in general, inspires me to be better, stronger; pushing to bend boundaries any way I can. And just because I'm retired doesn't mean my training is over. My next chapter is just beginning!!"

The Rock also shared the news with his 134 million followers, taking to Instagram to call Vonn "the hardest worker in the room". Under Armour also got in on the social media action, sharing a clip of Vonn in the gym.

Vonn is the latest big name to land an ambassador role in the athleisure sector, following musician Kelly Rowland's January collaboration with Fabletics, actress and dancer Jenna Dewan's activewear collection for Danskin and the Japanese snowboarder Ayumu Hirano's new role at Uniqlo.
